DESCRIPTION:MONDAYS  1:30P – 2:30P   |   Beginning NOVEMBER 29 \nWe’re doing something new for Advent this year – we’re going to use Walter Brueggemann’s “Celebrating Abundance: Devotions for Advent” book. In this book\, Brueggemann provides a daily short reflection based on a scripture reading\, and a short prayer. We’ll read and reflect on these readings on our own\, and then gather once a week to talk about them. A simple spiritual practice to go along with the theme of the week will be introduced when we meet. \nBooks are available from the office for $18\,  or you can order from your favourite book seller or download one to your e-reader. (If the price is challenging for you\, please let Rev. DESCRIPTION:In past years we have prepared Birthday Party Bags for families at The Compass.  The Compass contacted us recently to see if we could do this again as the bags are very popular with their client families. \nThe bags consist of everything that families need to have a birthday party for their child. \nWe will be preparing these in two ways: \n1.  If you would like to prepare a Birthday bag yourself:\nPlease purchase the following items and deliver the filled gift bag to the church office Thursdays\, 10am-12 noon. SUMMARY:Outdoor Concert featuring the MSC
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, September 1\, at 7:00pm we will be holding an outdoor concert on the front lawn of Clarkson Road featuring the Mississauga Summer Chorale (MSC); a group of high school and university students who love singing together. \nThe MSC was founded in 2015 with the goal of bringing together old friends and new friends to sing throughout the summer months. Now in its 7th season\, the MSC is made up of 2 choirs and over 70 members\, who get together once per week to sing and make music. They perform a wide variety of repertoire\, everything from sacred motets to Malaysian folk music. \nAudience members are encouraged to bring an outdoor chair or blanket\, as well as snacks and drinks to enjoy during the concert. \nEveryone is welcome to this free event.

We would like to focus on this age group.

SUMMARY:Thank You Gift Baskets
DESCRIPTION:This is a very difficult time to be a teacher. For those who have teachers in their families you know how hard they are working to keep our children and grandchildren safe and happy during the pandemic. This is not an easy task and we are so thankful for the work they do. \nWe have a wonderful relationship with the Montessori teachers who work in our building and those who work in the secondary location of White Oaks Montessori on the South Service Road. We want to show them that we value the work they do and that we recognize the extraordinary efforts they have gone to this fall. We will be preparing gift baskets for each of the teachers for Christmas. \nIf you would like to donate to these gift baskets you can send your donation in to the church office or by e-transfer by December 1. Please mark the donation as “teacher baskets” so that we can allocate the funds properly.

SUMMARY:Gathering on the Lawn
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a Gathering on the Lawn this Sunday. Bring a lawn chair and come for a short time of worship\, and hear about the fall plans at Clarkson Road. We’re excited to share what we have planned for children and families (and adults)\, and we’ll be offering a special prayer and blessing for students\, teachers and all school workers\, along with parents. We will also have a special treat for you 🙂 \nWe will be following all guidelines that have been set out by the Health Department to keep everyone safe. Please come with your mask and a lawn chair and practice physical distancing sitting 2m (6 feet) away from those who are not in your bubble. \nTo help us know how many people are coming we ask that you register by emailing us at clarkson.presbyterian@gmail.com.
